Guardian Desktop

Choose the build for your machine.

Guardian runs core safety checks locally. First launch downloads the local runtime and selected model. Plan for at least 5GB free disk space. Larger models require their model size plus staging and safety headroom, which the installer checks before downloading.

Windows release status

The current Windows installers are experimental and do not carry a Windows publisher code-signing certificate. Windows may show a SmartScreen warning. Verify the published SHA-256 digest before running them. Stable Windows publication is blocked until signed and timestamped artifacts are available.

First run checklist

  1. Open the installer for your platform.
  2. Allow the one-time runtime and model download.
  3. Paste a model response or agent action for a local Guardian check.
  4. For managed installs, verify the SHA-256 digest before deployment.

If you are unsure which macOS build you need, open the full release page and choose Apple Silicon for M-series Macs or Intel for older Macs.

Local history and privacy

Guardian stores model-authored reasons, findings, policy settings, and decision metadata in a local database. The app restricts that storage to your OS account and applies a retention cap. It is not application-layer encrypted, so other processes running as your OS user may be able to read it. Clear local history when you no longer need it.

Integrity check

Verify your download

GitHub publishes SHA-256 digests for each Guardian Desktop 1.0.1 asset. After downloading, run this locally and compare the result with the matching filename below.

shasum -a 256 <downloaded-file>

Match the filename exactly against the release's SHA256SUMS.txt. Signed updater artifacts also publish .sig sidecars on the official GitHub release page.
